When Being Hot Is NOT a Good Thing and What to Avoid When It Comes to Your Digital Devices

If you live in Florida, I know this is not news to you, but it can get really hot here…on the beach, in our cars, everywhere really; and we are pretty much in the dog days of summer as we speak. So, what’s a person to do when it comes to their digital devices and keeping them safe?

First of all, I know it is tempting to take your laptop and phone to the beach, soaking in all those beautiful rays and sea breezes while you work with an ocean view, especially since we live near some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, but please don’t. Aside from the heat, water and sand are the arch enemies of computers of any kind.

Also, don’t leave your electronics in your car instead while you are at the beach (or anywhere really). Where we live, a vehicle can heat up to well over 100 degrees in minutes, wreaking havoc on your electronic devices and possibly causing irreversible damage.

Let’s talk about poor ventilation. Computers need proper airflow to avoid overheating. Make sure that nothing is blocking adequate ventilation to yours. That includes laptops. So be careful setting your laptop on anything that might hinder the airflow around it – such as the puffy quilt on your bed and even your clothes if it rests on your lap.

Laptops and desktop computers can overheat for many reasons, including dust accumulation. So try to keep them clean and just remember to treat yours the way you would like to be treated – with adequate airflow for easy breathing and cool enough to avoid overheating.

If you need any assistance with computer overheating problems, you can always just bring your computer to Computer “A” Services – providing expert and affordable computer service right in your neighborhood.
