Okay, now, turn off your computer. It is also a good idea to detach your keyboard during the cleaning process. Then, use a dust-free cloth or Q-tip to gently rub isopropyl alcohol on the tops of the keys. It is important not to drip any liquid inside the keyboard, so don’t use too much alcohol. Finally, use a can of compressed air to blow out any dust or other foreign matter. You can purchased canned air dusters at any office supply store or online.

For a more thorough cleaning, you can remove and scrub each key with the toothbrush. Make sure you have some time, because you cannot replace the keys until they are totally dry. If you do happen to accidently get some moisture inside the keyboard, dry it as much as possible with a cloth and leave it upside down to air dry overnight.
